The absurd fine to Ronaldo, you won't believe how long he has to work to pay it

The Portuguese striker was punished for his gesture against Al-Shabab fans.

It is absurd.

This week Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines around the world not for his goals and records on the field, but for a scandal that surprised everyone. Last Sunday Al-Nassr faced Al-Shabab in the Saudi Arabian Pro League and managed to get a key 3-2 victory that allowed them to remain in second place in the tournament standings, behind leaders Al-Hilal.

However, all did not go well for them as the Portuguese striker, who had scored the opener from the spot during the first half, got into a confrontation with the rival team's fans. They booed him and even chanted "Messi, Messi" during the match to provoke him. And they succeeded. After his team's third goal, CR7 celebrated with a strange gesture: rapidly moving his arms at pelvic level while looking at the stands.

That was considered obscene and disrespectful by the Al-Shabab chiefs, who asked the Pro League authorities to launch an investigation. The final decision of the Disciplinary Committee was known this week and Cristiano received two sanctions: he will have a one-match suspension in the Saudi Arabian league and must pay a fine of $7,500.

The fine is clearly not a severe punishment for Ronaldo, who is the highest paid player in the world with a salary of $200 million per season. That means that, in order to pay that amount of money, he must work less than 20 minutes. But the other part of the punishment was bad news for him, as it affects Al-Nassr.

Trouble for the coach

The one-game suspension that Cristiano Ronaldo received after the scandal prevented him from playing this Thursday against Al-Hazm for the 22nd day of the Pro League. Manager Luis Castro had to look for alternatives to replace him and opted for an attacking quartet with Otavinho, Sadio Mane, Sami Al-Najei and Anderson Talisca. But that may not be enough for the team to get a win.
