Real Madrid's Bellingham could be in big trouble for insulting a rival player

The English midfielder is under investigation and the decision will be known soon.

Jude is in trouble.

Jude Bellingham is probably the best player in the world right now. Last summer Real Madrid paid over $100 million to Borussia Dortmund for him in the hope that he would become an important part of the team, but not even the most optimistic man imagined that things would go so well so quickly. In just a few weeks he adapted to his new club and showed excellent performances in La Liga and the Champions League.

Since then he has scored 20 goals and provided 8 assists in 29 games, leading the team to the top of the Spanish league table and to the round of 16 of the European competition. However, right now he cannot be part of the team due to an ankle injury suffered during the match against Girona last week for which he will need at least two more weeks of recovery.

But that seems a minor problem compared to what could happen to him in the near future. A few days ago Getafe chiefs denounced an unpleasant situation that allegedly occurred during the match against Real Madrid that was played at the Coliseum Stadium on February 1st. They claim that Jude Bellingham insulted Mason Greenwood by calling him "rapist", in reference to the problems that the forward had with his girlfriend and that caused his departure from Manchester United.

This week La Liga transferred the complaint to the Competition Committee and commissioned the investigation of the fact to a specialist in lip reading to determine if indeed the Real Madrid player said that to Greenwood. According to Mundo Deportivo, the result of these investigations has already been delivered to La Liga, although it has not yet been made public.

What will happen?

Now the Spanish soccer authorities have sent the results of the report to the Competition Committee. The next step is the appointment of a judge who will receive the information and make a decision: whether to dismiss the case or sanction Jude Bellingham. The latter could be terrible news for the midfielder and for Real Madrid, considering that the decisive stage of the season is approaching.
