Neymar Jr. has been out from football for more than eight months, but he has made the most out of it since he has been spending time with his family and friends. He has tried to recover from his injury by doing some light excersises in the gym and has done rehab in the facilities of Al Hilal. He only managed to play five games for Al Hilal this season, which was his first year with the club since joining last summer from PSG. The Brazilian star had an ACL injury in October and was expected to make his return this summer. Now, it could be possible after new research seems that his recovery has gone better than expected. Sports reports that Neymar will join Al Hilal’s preparation phase next Monday after returning from vacation to prepare for the new season’s competitions. Neymar underwent muscle tests at a rehabilitation center in Las Vegas, USA, and will join Al Hilal’s preparations stage.
Neymar has been training individually with some personal trainers for a couple of weeks now. The Brazilian star has started to run and do exercises on a football pitch. Neymar went to the US to watch the first two games of the Brazilian national team in Copa America. Brazil played in Los Angeles and then played in Las Vegas. Neymar is expected to be fully back by the end of September, but with his report, it could be sooner.
Neymar's contract with Al Hilal expires in the summer of 2025, and he is committed to staying at the Saudi Pro League club until then. Neymar's return is very anticipated by his fans since they believe he still has the quality to be one of the best players in the world, and they hope he gets ready for the next World Cup, which is two years away.
Although Neymar has enjoyed his time off, he admits that he misses football a lot. Neymar said, "Firstly, I want to return to playing which is the most important. I miss it a lot. These months have been really hard. It’s not an easy injury where you just do the surgery, recover & you’re done. It’s more mental than everything. I had to prepare myself a lot mentally to continue with the will & desire to play. I think that’s the most important thing I think about at the moment, not the titles, the wins, the goals but yes in recovering as fast as possible and playing again.
