Fans will be delighted.

Real Madrid started 2024 as well as they had finished 2023. In the first game of the year, they got an important 1-0 win against Real Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium that allowed them to stay at the top of the La Liga standings, along with the surprising Girona, seven points ahead of Barcelona.

Now Los Merengues will not compete in La Liga again for a long time. This is because this weekend they will make their debut in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey against Arandina and then travel to Saudi Arabia to participate in the Spanish Super Cup. There they will play Atlético Madrid in the semifinals and, should they advance to the final, they will face the winner between Barcelona and Osasuna.

As usual before every game, this Friday Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference and answered the journalists' questions about the team's performance in the last game, the particular situation of some players and the expectations for the next games.

There, the Italian manager surprised everyone by announcing one of the most awaited news for Real Madrid fans. After being asked about Toni Kroos' physical condition, Ancelotti said: "Toni will be for sure in Arabia (in the Spanish Super Cup), he only has a small ankle problem after the game against Mallorca. (Arda) Güler can be a starter".

Maybe it's his big chance

Arda Guler arrived last summer at Real Madrid from Fenerbahce of Turkey and since then he has not been able to play even one minute. During the preseason he suffered a meniscus injury for which he had to undergo surgery and then had two muscle problems that kept him off the field for several weeks. This week he was on the bench during the game against Mallorca, but did not come on. However, Ancelotti has seen him doing well in training and is therefore likely to give him a chance for Saturday's match against Arandina in Copa del Rey.
