Lionel Messi has achieved everything he set out to do during his professional career. He is the most decorated player of all time, having won more titles than any other player before, including the Champions League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Club World Cup, Copa America and World Cup. And on an individual level, no one can compete with him: he is the most Ballon d'Or winner (8) and the one who was most often chosen by FIFA at The Best awards (3).

However, he still has ambition. Since his arrival in the United States, he set out to make Inter Miami the most important team in the country, and little by little he is achieving it. In 2023 he led The Herons to the Leagues Cup title and this year he wants to do the same with two more important tournaments: Major League Soccer and the CONCACAF Champions League.
But that's not all. Leo also has goals with the Argentine National Team. In June he will compete in the Copa America, perhaps his last major tournament with La Albiceleste, if he decides to retire before the 2026 World Cup. And just a few weeks after that, he will have another challenge: the Olympic Games in Paris. He already won the gold medal in Beijiing 2008, but achieving it again would be a dream for him.
However, in order to be there, Messi needs Argentina to qualify from the pre-Olympic tournament that is being played in Venezuela right now. Only two of the ten South American teams will make it to the Olympics and things started difficult for Javier Mascherano's team: they did not perform well in their debut against Paraguay and drew 1-1.

The worst news for Messi: Inter Miami player who suffered serious injury
Curiously, the villain for the Argentine national team was a teammate of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. Diego Gomez is Paraguay's biggest star and this Sunday he scored his team's goal against La Albiceleste, which complicated Lionel Messi's plans to be in Paris 2024. And it's not over yet, as Paraguay and Argentina could meet again in the decisive phase of the pre-Olympic tournament.
