Two of Italy's top teams play at the Stadio Olimpico this Friday.

This Friday kicked off the third matchday of Serie A 2023/24 with Sassuolo's 3-1 win over Hellas Verona. However, the most important match of the day in Italy will be the one between AS Roma and AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. There, both teams will be looking for a victory that will allow them to get closer to the top of the standings.

AC Milan had a great start of the season: they beat Bologna 2-0 with goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic, and Torino 4-1, again through the French striker and the American forward, plus a goal from Theo Hernandez. This allowed Stefano Pioli's team to be one of the few teams with a perfect score, along with Napoli and Inter.

Things have been very different for AS Roma. Jose Mourinho's team have not performed well so far and have not been able to win yet. They drew 2-2 against Salernitana (Andrea Belotti netted twice) and lost 2-1 against Hellas Verona. That's why they are in 14th place in the standings, with only one point.

AC Milan's starting lineup will be: Mike Maignan; Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Malik Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rade Krunic, Tijjani Reijnders; Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leao. And Roma AS will have the following XI: Rui Patricio; Diego Llorente, Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling; Bryan Cristante, Mehmet Zeki Çelik, Leandro Paredes, Nicola Zalewski, Houssem Aouar; Stephan El Shaarawy, Andrea Belotti.

It will be an interesting weekend

In addition to the match between AS Roma and AC Milan, the third matchday of Serie A will have other matches that promise to be interesting and will attract the attention of fans. On Saturday another of the leaders, Napoli, will play against Lazio. On Sunday Inter will host Fiorentina and Juventus will face Empoli.
