This Brazilian star still regrets what happened a few years ago.

For several seasons Liverpool were considered one of the best teams in Europe. The arrival of Jurgen Klopp in 2015 caused a change in the club, who in a short time changed their style of play and began to compete with other giants. In just a few years, he put together one of the best attacking trios in England - Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.

With them as the main stars of the team, The Reds were Champions League finalists in the 2017/18 season, when they lost to Real Madrid, European champions in 2019, when they defeated Tottenham in the final, and Premier League champions in 2020. At the time everything was going well for them, but something unexpected happened.

Roberto Firmino, in his autobiography to be presented this November 9, said: "We had conquered Europe, we conquered the world, but something was missing: we had not yet conquered England and that Premier League trophy was the one the fans wanted the most. I have no doubt that we were the best until March 2020."

And then he explained: "After 26 wins in 27 games, it was clear that the title was only a matter of time and the objective had already changed: we now wanted to win the league undefeated. But in February 2020 we travel to Madrid to face Atlético in the last 16 of the Champions League. Diego Simeone, Atlético Madrid's coach, identified our style perfectly and found a way to nullify us."

That cost them dearly

Although it was only a defeat, that elimination against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League affected The Reds according to Firmino, who added: "At that stage of the season we felt we were invincible, with a united and strong squad. But we weren't really invincible and we found that out the hard way. We lost 3-0 to Watford, which ended our run of 18 consecutive Premier League wins and a 44-game unbeaten run."
