Manchester City and Tottenham promised one of the most interesting matches of the weekend in Europe. Both teams are at the top of the Premier League standings and needed to get a win this Sunday at Etihad Stadium to close the gap on leaders Arsenal and Liverpool, who won their respective games against Wolverhampton and Fulham.

And they lived up to expectations. The match was frenetic and had everything: a lot of pace, changes in the scoreboard and above all goals, lots of goals. Each with their own style, the two teams had moments of dominance in which they were able to carry out their coaches' plan and that made for a great time for the spectators.

Spurs struck first: 7 minutes into the first half, Heung-Min Son beat Manuel Akanji at speed, entered the box and shot with his right foot, making it impossible for goalkeeper Ederson to react. But the Citizens responded quickly and scored the equaliser just a minute later, when Julian Alvarez sent in a floated cross that Son couldn't avoid connecting with and finished with an own goal. And on 30 minutes Phil Foden made it 2-1 after an assist from Bernardo Silva.

Things continued in the same way in the second half. Tottenham had control of the ball for several minutes and scored 2-2 through Giovani Lo Celso, with a beautiful left-footed goal. But the joy was short-lived, as after 36 minutes Yvess Bissouma made an absurd mistake, lost the ball and allowed Erling Haaland to assist Jack Grealish, who netted with a soft shot. However, Dejan Kulusevski again tied the score with a beautiful header with just a couple of minutes left on the whistle.

Erling was furious

After Tottenham's third goal, Haaland received the ball near the halfway line, spun and was brought down by a kick from an opposing defender, but quickly got up and gave a great assist to Grealish, who had a chance to face the keeper Vicario. However, referee Simon Hooper decided to give the foul to Manchester City instead of allowing Grealish to continue the play, much to the ire of the hosts, especially Haaland.
