The Greek defender had to be replaced during the first half vs Arsenal.

Liverpool and Arsenal are the protagonists of the most important match of the week in Europe. Both teams are aiming to be Premier League champions this season and have had an exciting start to the tournament. The Gunners started the 18th round of the English league as leaders of the standings with 39 points, the same amount that Aston Villa reached with the draw against Sheffield United. The Reds have only one point less.

That is why the match they are playing at Anfield Road this Saturday is so important. Whoever gets a win will become the sole leader of the Premier League, just when the tournament is approaching the halfway point.

The visitors got off to the better start. Four minutes into the first half they scored the opener through Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian defender received a floated cross from Martin Odegaard and with a good header made it impossible for goalkeeper Alisson to react. The VAR checked Magalhaes' position, but finally validated the goal.

That goal forced Liverpool to become the protagonists of the match, controlling the ball and pushing their rivals close to goalkeeper David Raya's box. And after 29 minutes they got their reward: Trent Alexander-Arnold sent a long pass to Mohamed Salah, who dribbled past Oleksander Zinchenko, entered the box and shot powerfully with his left foot to score the leveller.

They were unlucky

An absurd situation happened during the last minutes of the first half. Bukayo Saka and Konstantinos Tsimikas disputed the ball near the sideline, the English winger pushed his opponent and made him fall to the ground. But so strong was the fall that the Greek defender came off the field, collided with his own coach Jurgen Klopp and tripped him. This might have seemed like a funny situation, but everyone was concerned to see Tsimikas on the ground. Doctors attended to him and he had to be replaced by Joe Gomez.
