He is a promising young player and several top clubs in Europe want to sign him.

The winter transfer window will open in just over a month and Europe's top clubs are already hard at work negotiating for players that coaches want to sign. As usual, there will be just a handful of transfers that teams will be able to make during January, but choosing the right signings could be key to meeting the goals they set for the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea are one of the clubs that have spent the most money recently. In 2023, between the winter and summer transfer windows, they have invested a fortune to sign top players such as Enzo Fernandez, Mijailo Mudryk, Moses Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. However, boss Mauricio Pochettino is still not satisfied. According to reports, he believes he needs a star striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, who arrived at the club this summer but has yet to make his debut due to a serious injury suffered during pre-season.

TeamTalk reports that the player chosen by 'Poch' is Santiago Giménez. The Argentinian-born but naturalized Mexican forward shines in Feyenoord of the Netherlands. During the previous season he scored 23 goals, but in the current term his performances are even better: in 15 games he has netted 15 times and has helped his team to be second in the Eredivisie standings and third in the Champions League group E.

At just 23 years old, Giménez is one of the most promising young players in the world. That is why Feyenoord are seeking a fortune to negotiate his sale: almost $45 million. And it looks like they will be able to get that amount or even more, as there are several teams interested in the forward. In addition to Chelsea, Tottenham are rumored to be targeting him. And also Real Madrid, who will need a forward in case they do not agree on the arrival of Kylian Mbappé.

If a forward arrives, maybe another one will leave

Should they agree to buy Santiago Gimenez, Chelsea will have too many players for the attack. Nicolas Jackson has shown good performances and earned a place in the team, while Nkunku has not yet made his debut but is considered one of the stars of the squad. That is why Armando Broja, who has only scored two goals this season, could leave the club.
