The Brazilian forward is having a hard time after his serious injury.

Neymar Junior suffered a serious knee injury in October, while playing with the Brazilian national team in a match against Uruguay in Montevideo for the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The rupture of anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee forced him to undergo surgery and a long recovery period.

These types of injuries are the most serious that soccer players can suffer, as they prevent them from playing official matches for long periods of time, usually ranging from 6 months to a year depending on the speed of recovery of each player. When the Brazilian forward was injured, initial estimates were at least 6 months, but now specialists are more pessimistic.

In an interview with Radio 98, Dr. Lasmar, one of the members of the medical team of the Brazilian National Team, gave bad news about Ney's future. He assured that he will not recover in time to play the Copa America 2024 in the United States, which will start on June 20: "He won't have time, it's too soon. It makes no sense to skip steps to get him on his feet early and take unnecessary risks. We must be patient."

Meanwhile, Neymar shared a video on social media showing how his recovery process is going, and the images are difficult to see. There, the Brazilian forward is seen with the specialists who are accompanying him in his treatment. He is on a stretcher and is being helped to flex his left knee, which evidently causes him a lot of pain, judging by his screams and cries.

When will he be able to play again?

If Dr. Lasmar's estimates are correct, Neymar will not be back on the field until next season. This means that he will not be able to return to Al-Hilal before the end of the current Pro League, in which the team is leading the standings by several points ahead of Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo's team, who are second.
