Paris Saint-Germain are one of the clubs that suffer the most every time there is an international break. This is because they have a squad full of top players who are usually called up to play with their respective national teams, so during that time the coach can't do almost any training.
And then there is an even more serious problem: many times, some of the stars return with physical problems due to the demands of international matches and then need some time to recover until they are fit to play again, so they miss some matches with the club.
This is exactly what happened with Marco Asensio. The striker was called up by Luis De La Fuente for the matches that the Spanish National Team played against Georgia and Cyprus for the Euro 2024 qualifiers. In the first of them, in Tbilisi, he could barely play 44 minutes and had to be replaced by Nicholas Williams before halftime due to physical problems. He was immediately dropped from the national team and was not part of the squad for the match against Cyprus.
On his return to Paris, he underwent medical tests to find out details of his injury and on Thursday PSG released a statement saying: “Marco Asensio suffers from foot trauma. He will remain in care at least until the end of the month”. This means that the Spanish striker will miss Saturday's game against Nice and the following Ligue 1 matches against Olympique Marseille and Clermont. Best case scenario, he will be able to return to face Stade Rennais on Sunday, October 8.
Asensio is not the only player reported by PSG: "Victim of a small alert at the level of the left thigh, Fabian Ruiz will carry out suitable work over the next few days. Nuno Mendes continues his gradual recovery with the group. Presnel Kimpembe continues his treatment protocol".
