Never seen before: Bellingham was booked twice but he stayed on the field anyway

This Thursday Real Madrid and Alaves played the last match of the 18th La Liga matchday. Los Merengues started the game knowing the results of all the other matches of the tournament, including those of the teams against which they are competing to reach the top of the standings. Atletico Madrid drew 3-3 against Getafe, Barcelona beat Almeria 3-2 on Wednesday and leaders Girona drew 1-1 vs Real Betis.

These results were favorable for them, especially the latter. With Los Tozudos having failed in their match against Real Betis, they gave Real Madrid the chance to become tournament leaders. But for that they needed to get a win against Alaves.

And things were not at all easy for them. During the first half the hosts defended well and succeeded in their plan to nullify the virtues of Carlo Ancelotti's team. In fact, the only scoring chances they had during the first 45 minutes were two shots by Federico Valverde that were saved by goalkeeper Antonio Sivera.

And everything got much more complicated after the break, when Nacho was sent off for a strong kick. The referee had initially decided to book him, but the VAR told him to review the situation and he changed his decision. Nevertheless, despite being a player down for almost half the game, Real Madrid found a way to win: in stoppage time, Lucas Vazquez scored the only goal of the match with a header.

What happened with Jude?

An unusual situation happened with Jude Bellingham during the match against Alaves. In the first half, the referee had shown a yellow card to a Real Madrid player and the official La Liga broadcast indicated that it was for the English midfielder. However, during the second half he kicked rival defender Nahuel Tenaglia and was booked. But unexpectedly, the referee didn't send him off. This puzzled the fans and also the journalists, who did not understand if it was a referee's mistake or if in fact the first yellow card had been for another player.
