Several clubs in England are competing for this $31 million midfielder.

Next week the transfer window will open again in the main European leagues and that is why clubs are working to agree on the arrival of players that can help them face the second half of the season. They will have the month of January to succeed in the negotiations and that is why there is no time to lose.

While many teams are interested in signing strikers, such as Barcelona with Vitor Roque and Real Madrid with Endrick, others prefer a midfielder. And that is why there are many sides interested in a young Belgian player who has had excellent performances during the last seasons and has earned the nickname of the 'new Iniesta'.

He is Arthur Vermeeren, a player of only 18 years of age who shines at Royal Antwerp in Belgium. There he was instrumental in winning the 2022/23 Pro League title, the club's first in 60 years. That allowed him to play this season in the Champions League, where he played against Barcelona and scored one of the goals in the 3-2 victory. And he also made his debut for the Belgium national team on October 13 against Austria.

Those performances impressed several top European clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, but his future is likely to be in the Premier League. Three English teams are after him: Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. And the latter made the first move.

The Spurs know what they're doing

According to The Sun, Tottenham have a plan to sign Arthur Vermeeren in 2024. They will try to repeat the strategy they used with Destiny Udogie: buy him and then loan him to his former club for a few months. That's why they may pay more than $30 million for him, but allow him to stay at Royal Antwerp at least until the end of the 2023/24 season.
