The Red Devils need to make changes to improve their performances.

Although in the last few weeks Manchester United have raised their level, fans are not satisfied with the team's performance at the beginning of this season. The 3 wins in the last 4 Premier League games are not enough to make them forget the problems they have had on and off the field.

The serious accusations against Antony for domestic violence; the controversial decision to take captaincy away from Harry Maguire and give it to Bruno Fernandes; the quarrel between Jadon Sancho and boss Erik Ten Hag and the alleged fights between some players after the defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford are just some of the problems they have had. Added to that is the poor level of the team and the tough defeats against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray in the Champions League.

With this scenario, the press and fans have been very critical of the coach, but also of some of the players. One of those targeted is Casemiro. The Brazilian midfielder arrived from Real Madrid in 2022 in exchange for $85 million, but so far he has not lived up to expectations.

That is why Manchester United chiefs are rumored to be interested in another holding midfielder who is excelling in Europe despite his young age: Joao Neves. The player is only 19 years old and has already been called up to the Portuguese national team thanks to his good performances at Benfica. He made his debut there in 2022 and has since played 22 games.

How much is he worth?

According to Sport newspaper, Benfica will ask $75 million for Joao Neves, a huge but usual amount in recent years for transfers of promising young players. In fact, reports indicate that his agent Jorge Mendes has already had some talks with Manchester United chiefs to start negotiating the transfer.
