Inter Miami are preparing to face the 2024 season, in which they will not only have the Major League Soccer and the Leagues Cup, like last year, but also the most important tournament in North and Central America: the CONCACAF Champions League. This will be their main objective, since if they win the title they will secure their place in the Club World Cup 2025.

The club's chiefs and coach Gerardo Martino know that to compete in all these tournaments they will need to have a top-level squad. That is why they are not only working to ensure the continuity of the team's stars, but also to add other elite players during this transfer window.

The Herons signed four young players in the Super Draft: midfielders Yannick Bright and Pep Casas and forwards Ryan Carmichael and Leo Afonso. Undoubtedly the first major signing was Luis Suarez, who left Gremio of Brazil and agreed to join MLS last week. There he will be reunited with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, with whom he played at Barcelona.

But Leo also intends to convince another former teammate of his: Marcos Rojo. The 33-year-old defender played with Messi between 2011 and 2018 in the Argentina National Team (where he was coached by Gerardo Martino as well) and was a Manchester United star until 2021. Since then he has been playing for Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires. According to journalist Hernán Castillo, Rojo received calls from Messi and Martino to try to convince him to join The Herons.

Is it possible?

Marcos Rojo has a contract in Argentina until December 31, 2025. However, he has received offers not only from Inter Miami, but also from Brazil, which could make him change his mind and ask Boca chiefs for his departure. And it is also rumored that another player from the club, striker Dario Benedetto, could join Inter Miami.
