The wait is over, and club football reaches its pinnacle with the final of the world's most prestigious competition. Today, on June 10th, a milestone will be marked on the calendar as the most important match of the season, the Champions League final, takes place between Manchester City and Inter Milan.
From the European Cup to the Champions League, 67 editions have been contested, and the upcoming final between Inter and Manchester City will mark the 68th edition. The Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul will be the stage where both teams will battle to become the monarchs of European football.
For Manchester City, the challenge is daunting, as they have never lifted this trophy in their history, although they have come close on several occasions. This season, they boast a standout forward in Erling Haaland, who has become the top scorer in the Premier League and leads the Champions League goal-scoring chart with 12 goals.
On the other hand, Inter Milan has not reached the final since 2010 when they defeated Bayern Munich and were crowned champions for the third time in their history. Since then, the Italian side has faced obstacles on their path to glory. This season, under the guidance of Simone Inzaghi, the team clinched the Coppa Italia title and finished in third place in the league.
If Manchester City manages to lift the Champions League trophy, it would be their third title of the season. Let's remember that they were crowned champions of the Premier League after an epic comeback and also won the FA Cup at Wembley. Both teams enter this stage in great form, and an exciting season finale awaits us.
