This forward was destined to be a big star, but something went wrong.

In the world of soccer there are plenty of examples of players who were incredibly talented and seemed to have a bright future ahead of them. From a young age, their coaches and teammates trusted them to solve difficult games and dreamed of seeing them succeed at the world's top clubs. However, things did not always turn out as expected.

Lack of professionalism, poor fitness and lack of motivation can be very negative factors in a player's career, to the point of frustrating the expectations placed on him. This is what happened to this talented Italian forward, who dazzled fans in his early days but never became a big star.

He is Antonio Cassano. His great performances at AS Roma attracted the attention of Real Madrid in 2006, who paid $15 million for him. However, at La Casa Blanca he did not have a great level and left a year later for Sampdoria. Years later he also played for AC Milan and Inter, but he failed to shine as he did in his beginnings. He finally retired at Hellas Verona in 2017.

The reason for these failures was his unprofessionalism. Cassano was known for participating in many parties and always being seen with women. In addition, he starred in several scandals with different coaches, such as Fabio Capello and Jose Mourinho. All this meant that his career was never as successful as it seemed it was going to be.

He continues to be controversial

Now retired at the age of 40, the former Italian player continues to be in the news now and then for different situations. A few months ago he harshly criticized Mourinho after Roma lost the UEFA Europa League final to Sevilla. The former player said: "Mourinho sucks, in these two years we only saw fights, he ruined Roma's image. I hope he never comes back to Italy".
