The Portuguese striker is the highest paid soccer player in the world.

Cristiano Ronaldo changed the world soccer map forever. When in December 2022 he announced his decision to leave Manchester United to join Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, the world was in shock. One of the biggest stars of the most popular sport was leaving Europe to begin an experience in a little-known league, in exchange for a salary impossible to match: more than $200 million per season.

This decision was quickly imitated by other stars, who in the following months followed suit. Marcelo Brozovic, Aymeric Laporte and Sadio Mane joined CR7 at Al-Nassr, while other teams also signed top players. The most notable are Al-Ittihad (Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kanté), Al-Hilal (Neymar Junior) and Al-Ahli (Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino).

However, it is not enough for Cristiano to be the highest paid player in the world and one of the most successful strikers of all time. He is also famous for his investments in other activities that have nothing to do with soccer, such as hair treatment clinics and media.

And now he surprised everyone by investing $40 million in a video game. It is UFL, a new soccer video game developed by Strikerz.Inc that aims to become the competition to EA Sports' FC24 (formerly known as FIFA) and KONAMI's eFootball (formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer). The company started hiring famous players to promote the new videogame and that is how CR7 joined the project. However, now his role has changed and he will be one of the investors.

This is how it was announced

Through a post on X, the official UFL account (@UFLgame) shared a message that says: "Here we go! Cristiano joins UFL as an investor! We're excited to work together on UFL and create a fair, skill-first game for football fans worldwide".
