This Saturday at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will play their tenth match in this 2023/24 Premier League season against Sheffield United. There they will be looking for a victory that will allow them to close the gap in the standings with leaders Tottenham, who on Friday beat Crystal Palace 2-1. Spurs have 26 points, while Arsenal and Manchester City share second place with 21, so if they do not win this weekend, they will be far from the top.
Mikel Arteta's team have had little time to rest, as last Tuesday they flew to southern Spain to face Sevilla in the third match of Champions League group B and got what they came for: the three points. They defeated the Spaniards 2-1 and got a key victory that allows them to be leaders.
Now the Gunners need to do the same in the English league and they have an unbeatable opportunity. They will face the bottom of the table. Sheffield United are in relegation zone, as they only got one point in nine games. That was a 2-2 draw against Everton on September 2. The rest were all defeats.
Coach Mikel Arteta decided that the starting lineup will be: David Raya; Ben White, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Emile Smith Rowe, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz; Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli.
Sheffield United have had a lot of problems this season and things have not gone their way. That's why they know it will be very difficult for them to get a win, but they are clinging to the hope of staying solid in defense and thus making Arsenal's mission difficult. Coach Paul Hekingbottom decided that the starting lineup will be: Wes Foderingham; Jayden Bogle, Auston Trusty, Jack Robinson, Luke Thomas; Oliver Norwood, Vinicius, James Mcatee, Anis Ben Slimane, Gustavo Hamer; Rian Brewster.
